Water - Municipal Government
The cities of Muskegon and Muskegon Heights both have pumping facilities that provide drinking water from Lake Michigan. These cities provide service to other local communities. In addition, some areas use public and private wells to provide access to plentiful sources of clean water.

The Muskegon County Wastewater Management System is an internationally acclaimed land treatment process encompassing 11,000 acres of aeration, settling and spraying areas with capacity to handle a maximum of 42 million gallons of wastewater a day.
