Overview
The County is the largest civil administrative unit of local government in Michigan. The general administrative powers are delegated to the Board of Commissioners. However, the State government has become the most important administrative agent of the State. Muskegon County is a member of The National Association of Counties and The Michigan Association of Counties.
The care and management of the property and business of the County is vested in the Board of Commissioners. The various administrative functions are carried out through standing committees of the Board, annually appointed by the Chairperson and confirmed by the Board.
