Step 4 is our “Buddy Bucks program” to build positive relationships between law enforcement officers and our kids. Police Officers have been provided free food vouchers by McDonald's to give to kids who are “caught” doing good deeds. An officer that sees a kid using his or her helmet while riding a bike or walking on the sidewalk instead of the street is given “buddy bucks” that are redeemable for free treats at McDonald's. 2016 was the third consecutive year McDonald's has sponsored the program and over 600 Buddy Buck tickets were handed out this summer.
