What Does Muskegon County Emergency Management Do?

Muskegon County Emergency Management is committed to protecting lives, property, and the environment by coordinating comprehensive emergency preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation efforts. Working in partnership with local jurisdictions, county agencies, and state and federal partners, we develop and maintain emergency operations plans, provide training and exercises, and manage resources to ensure a unified and effective response to disasters.

Guided by the principles of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and the National Response Framework, we strive to build a resilient Muskegon County capable of withstanding and recovering from all hazards.

2024–2029 Hazard Mitigation Plan—Final (PDF)

The Muskegon County Hazard Mitigation Plan expired on October 9, 2020. The county received a grant to revise the plan, and the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) is currently updating the Community Profile. To comply with FEMA requirements, Muskegon County has posted the Community Profile for public review and comment.
