Origins
In about 1927, the Greater Muskegon Chamber of Commerce launched a campaign to establish a public airport in Muskegon County.
Muskegon County Airport is a product of that campaign. In 1931, the County Board of Commissioners had the first portion of the original Terminal Building constructed at the north-east end of former Runway 7 to 25 as a WPA Project at a cost to the County of an estimated $12,000.
